OBDWIZ FOR ELM 1.5 SERIAL NUMBER
They do give you a serial number for your obdwiz software for free, but know that their pro add on which gives you more features like boost (for turbo ppl) is an additional 39.99. Planning on leaving it in always so I've tested it with the engine running and off and it's still going strong, so it seems to be holding up pretty well compared to the elm327 clones from what you guys have said. Works well and is elm327 compatible but supposed to be 's own better/newer chip (didn't test vs elm327). Wiring power buttons to turn on the laptop and putting a switch for dc power to it will be easy enough.Īnyways, the obdlink sx is working well but occasionally doesn't connect right away, but eventually does in the end (maybe because of the extensions - obd2 extension and usb extension). Touch screen is going in the cubby spot and I relocated clock where the ashtray is. I did end up getting an extension that angled after plugging in so I don't end up bumping the interface when using the clutch just in case, and since I'll probably be routing it to a laptop in the trunk. If there's people that have 07 and under they can get this and a obd 2 splitter and hook up the vag-com cable for obd2 software and freessm I assume.
OBDWIZ FOR ELM 1.5 BLUETOOTH
Since bluetooth and wireless are more popular options, they have reduced the price to 29.99 which wasn't bad to take the risk. For those that have 08+ subarus and want to hook up through usb, I think this is a good choice. So after much debate, I finally decided to go with the obdlink sx (usb interface) since I'm gonna be hard wiring everything so that I can leave everything in the car and make it flush and make it look like it was factory installed. If I had an LGT I would just bite the bullet and get a open port 2.0 (tuning options), but I don't so I don't want to shell out that kind of money unnecessarily. For those of you who know, can enlighten me, and recommend a obd2 to usb interface that will work with my car but as cost efficient as possible I would greatly appreciate the help. I mainly want to check my error codes, clear them, monitor stuff to know more about my car and for possible preventative maintenance without installing extra gauges, and anything extra that I don't know about since using the obd2 port is a completely new area for me except for reading and clearing codes. So, with all this information I'm more confused than when I started my search. I was looking for obd2 cords that use the stn1110 chip and find that they are discontinuing it for the stn1170 bluetooth version - arg want hardwiring for computer and have iphone So I do some more research and find out there's another chip that's supposed to be even better and faster than the elm 327 called stn1110 and cheaper. So pay more and still get a clone will suck. So then I was going to pay a little extra more for something that actually had a genuine elm 327 and was gonna buy the elmscan 5 compact So I looked and was gonna buy a cheapo $9 elm327 v1.5? but read some of the reviews and people were saying how the clone chips don't work well, or don't work at all. So I decided that maybe I'll go for a cheap ebay/amazon elm 327 (hopefully 1.4b -most updated, don't see cables with the 2.1).

OBDWIZ FOR ELM 1.5 FREE
I know ssm (tactrix only option?) is subaru specific and can actually change things and the other can only monitor, but is there any benefit for sohc subarus? Also, is there things that the obd2 (using elm 327:which supports can bus) programs can do that ssm can't?įrom what I understand the vag-com cables don't work for certain 2007 models and all 2008+ models to use free ssm. For $237 that's a lot of $$ considering I have a sohc that I can't really tune, but would enjoy the extra functions for my car though I'm not sure you can through free ssm.īy the way if anyone can tell me what the main differences in ssm and other obd2 programs I would appreciate it. (don't know the identifier length/ bus speed) Īnd from my understanding, the tactrix open port 2.0 is the most thorough cord.

So I've been looking for a obd2 to usb interface for my car (2008 subaru legacy 2.5 sohc: canbus: 15765-4 protocol I think)
